Sr. Dolores Kearney recently travelled from Cork to Nigeria to attend an OLA seminar at the OLA conference centre in Maryland, Lagos. The seminar was geared towards OLA Sisters between 55 and 65 years of age. Twenty participants from Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Benin, Lebanon, Italy and Ireland took part in the five-week seminar. The participants included Sr. Cassie Hurley, based in Tanzania, while Sr. Eithna Synott delivered a workshop during the seminar.

Sr. Dolores was present at the SMA Formation Chapel, Bodija - Ibadan, to witness the First Professions of ten Sisters. The First Professions of the six Nigerians and four Ghanaians, who are all pictured below, took place on 25th July.

Sr. Dolores shared a few thoughts on her return to Cork: "Firstly, I am very thankful to the Provincial Leadership Team in Ireland for the opportunity to travel to Nigeria. The First Professions were a very memorable occasion and we thank God for His call to these ten young women. It was wonderful to be back in Nigeria. My first appointment was at the Sacred Heart hospital in Abeokuta. One day we had a Mass for Sr. Elizabeth Hayes who died shortly before I went out to Lagos. We visited a friend of Sr. Elizabeth who really appreciated the home visits that Sr. Elizabeth used to make to her and to many others like her. I was struck very much by the faith of the people and this was evident by the numbers seen in the church and those constantly visiting a nearby grotto for prayer and devotion. In terms of infrastructure there seems to have been a lot of progress with the roads much improved."
