October is Mission Month and World Missions Ireland (WMI) in conjunction with the World Meeting of Families (WMOF) is hosting its annual walk/run in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

The October 14th event will get underway at 10am. A spokeperson from WMI said:

"Given the huge numbers of Irish missionaries overseas, World Missions Ireland and the World Meeting of Families is hoping that this event will be an occasion for families to come together on mission, to enjoy the missionary camaraderie, and help raise funds for missionaries working with very needy families around the world."

Given that Ireland will host the 2018 World Meeting of Families, this years event will include a special 2km family walk.

The spokeperson added:

"This 'families helping families' event will also give us time to reflect on our own missionary walks in life! It will be a fun occasion to meet some of our Irish missionaries who have a wealth of experiences and wonderful stories to share."

The Archbishop of Cashel and Emly, Archbishop Kieran O'Reilly, will also be in attendance.

Registration for the walk/run is available online while walkers and runners can also register on the day from 9am at the Papal Cross.

Mission Sunday will be celebrated across the world on Sunday 22nd October.
